Rebecca Marcussen in a long time artist who creates her own vision of reality. She graduated magna Cum Laude from Eastern Illinois University with a BA in 2-D Studio Art and holds a MA in Painting and Ceramics. She started her professional career creating advertising layout for the Yellow Pages in 1968. she moved on to own her own sign company in 1973, creating graphic design and lettering for commercial signage. In 1997, ms. Marcussen became Adjunct Faculty for Lakeland Community College of Mattoon, Illinois. From 1997 through 2013, she taught Understanding Art, Painting I, Drawing I and Art history I and II. From 2005 through 2013, Rebecca became the Art Instructor and Program Developer for ARC - Community Support Systems, where she developed the Arts Program and brought out the creativity and expression of physically and mentally challenged Adults. Also in 1997, Rebecca established her own art studio where she taught afterschool and evening classes to children and adults in small class situations (4-6 students per class). She is a Charter member of the Effingham Art Guild of Effingham, Illinois, which has been active for the past 19 years. She served 3 years a Guild President, as well as serving as Treasurer and Special Projects Coordinator. Rebecca's ability to connect with her students and develop their ability to create and express through art is overwhelming. She has the experience to teach every level of understanding and learning abilities, and can develop programs specific to each individuals needs.
